In The Night

Sing me a good song about the way life's meant to be
and leave the bedroom light on so I can see
who I'm kissing and holding so close
you know I need you more than sleep

Sing me a sad song about the day you realised
that fairytales are stories and childhood is lies
but don't leave me
don't leave me
you know you're everything to me

but in the night when I'm lying close to you
those nightmares always manage to get through
and what will I do when night is over?
What would I do without you?

Sing me a slow song and dance with me in the dark
and take my hands in yours and swear we'll never part.
But we're not meant to be
and we are two candles flickering out

but you're so beautiful
and you know how I'm fragile
and I've seen the scars on your back from where they stole your wings
and I'm amazed at the way that you know everything

but in the night when I'm lying close to you
those nightmares always manage to get through
and what will I do when night is over?
What would I do without you?
What would I do?

Sing me a good song about the way life's meant to be
and leave the bedroom light on so I can see
who I'm kissing and holding so close
you know I need you more than sleep
you know you're everything to me
